Standing here on Namibia’s Skeleton Coast, I’m filled with gratitude. I want to thank each of you who contributed to this mission for my 60th birthday. Because of your generosity, I’ve been able to fulfill a promise made earlier this year: bringing Bibles to communities in Namibia’s northwest. This journey has been so much more than distributing books; it’s been a powerful connection of faith and compassion in a place where access to these resources is rare and cherished.
My Mission from Hobatere Lodge to Namibia’s Remote Communities
Beginning the Journey: This mission began at Hobatere Lodge, a place that set the tone for each stop in Namibia. As I revisited familiar communities I’d connected with in January and February, I was reminded of the deep need they expressed for Bibles, a need I felt called to answer.
Providing Bibles to Those Who Asked: Thanks to your support, I was able to purchase 110 Bibles. These Bibles are in specific translations—the Quap translation for the Damara and San communities, and the Herero Bibles for those at Shipwreck Lodge. I’m honored to be able to hand these out, knowing the impact they will have.
Witnessing the Power of Faith in People’s Hands
A Meaningful Gift in Native Languages: The chance to provide scripture in people’s native languages means the world here. A Bible might cost someone in this region 20–30% of their monthly income, making it a difficult purchase for most. Knowing that I could help put the word of God into their hands in a way that’s accessible to them fills me with a profound sense of purpose.
What This Means to Me: For many here, a Bible is a gift they never expected to own. Seeing the joy in people’s faces as they receive these Bibles is humbling. I feel privileged to be part of something so meaningful, and I owe that to each of you who made it possible.
