Privacy Policy
Reading this website collects nothing about you: no cookies, no analytics and no advertising. The only personal information the site receives is what you choose to send through the invitation form.
Who is responsible
This website is run by Fr. JP Heath, an Anglican priest and seafarers’ chaplain in Malmö, Sweden. He is responsible for the personal information described here.
The invitation form
When you invite JP through the form on the home page, the site receives your name, your email address, what the invitation is for and your message, and any details you add: your parish or organisation, where, when and which language. It is used for one thing: to answer your invitation. The legal basis is JP’s legitimate interest in replying to requests sent to him.
- Your invitation is emailed to JP’s own inbox, which is a Gmail account provided by Google, and a copy is emailed to the address you gave.
- It is also kept in the website’s dashboard, which only the site’s administrators can open. There it is deleted automatically after 12 months. The email in JP’s inbox is kept as long as he needs it for your correspondence.
- To stop the form being misused, a scrambled code made from your internet address (it cannot be turned back into the address) is kept for one hour. It limits how many invitations can be sent from one connection.
Your information is not sold, shared for marketing or used for anything else.
What stays on your own device
Two things are kept only in your own browser and are never sent to the website:
- if you choose a text size or light or dark appearance, your choice, so the site looks the same next time;
- if you start an invitation and leave the page, your unsent draft, until you send it or close the browser tab.
You can remove them at any time by clearing this site’s data in your browser.
Cookies
The website sets no cookies for visitors. WordPress uses cookies only for the people who sign in to edit the site.
Films from YouTube
Many essays end with a film. Until you press play, each one shows a still picture that is loaded from YouTube’s image server, so YouTube receives your internet address when that picture appears. The film itself is loaded only when you press play, from YouTube’s privacy-enhanced service (youtube-nocookie.com). From then on, YouTube’s own privacy policy applies.
Comments
The website does not take comments.
Hosting and security
The website is hosted by Web.com.ph. Like every web server, theirs records technical details of each visit, such as the internet address, the page asked for and the browser used, and a security service (Imunify) checks requests in order to block attacks. These records are kept by the host for running and protecting the server.
Your rights
Under the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) you can ask to see the personal information JP holds about you, to have it corrected or deleted, to limit or object to its use, and to receive a copy of it. To ask, use the invitation form on the home page and choose “Something else”.
If you think your information has been handled wrongly, you can complain to the Swedish Authority for Privacy Protection (Integritetsskyddsmyndigheten, IMY) at imy.se.
